Rant? What rant?

Ok, I've thought about it and, I decided that I shall save my rant for another non productive day. On a side note, the party went really well. I loved the butter chicken, sweet and sour pork, almond chicken, chicken ginseng soup, sushi, the b-word russian thingy, and lastly the lamb stew but not the lamb. :D On another side note, it seems my housemates like my lagsana alot, so I have just whipped up another batch with Belle. Boy, I'm gonna be really fat by the time Auntie Lina gets back. *burps* Cheers

You know what?

Well actually I wanted to write something pretty ranty and long, but I'm kinda sleepy so I'll just update in the morning. That is, if I'm still pissed at the subject matter. Gonna try to cook prata tomorrow. Should be interesting. Seeya in the morn' Cheers

Welcome to The Ego Cook blog

My thursday attempt at making Lasagna went...semi well. It shows that yes, I can do it, but I need more practice (First time cooking this...lucky this is not the one I am bring for the potluck (Or the Internation Re-union Black Tie Optional Gathering as proclaimed by Karina) party. So without further ado... pics from my first attempt at Lasagna baking... here's the pasta cooking and the cheese filling. I forgot to take a pic of the meat. I used a pasta sauce cause seriously if I have the time I'll make the sauce also. I just used some tomato paste sauce. I would prefer to make my own but... i forgot to buy tomatoes yesterday. zzz After this I layered the baking tray with the pasta strips and added sauce, cheese and stuff.. Following which I baked the stuff for 40 mins (BIG MISTAKE)... I'll bake 30mins next time and make sure I use aluminium foil to cover (which I couldn't find...but I had it. Tmd. I looked every drawer but the first drawer. Crap. So what happened was the first layer of the pasta became really hard. The idea is to have the foil trap the moisture inside and prevent the first layer from overcooking. I'll dilute the sauce abit so it will turn out to be more wet. There was a lack of sauce cos it all evapourated even when I used half a bottle. But discounting the first layer, the inside layer was still soft and nice. I'll try again tomorrow. Here's the slightly hard first layer lasagna and Belle being nice by saying it's nice. YOU HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO EAT IT MUAHAHAHA. Round 2 tomorrow. If I can get it right, saturday should be a breeze. This is fun man. I'm gonna master roti prata next... :D Edit: next time must align pics and mid or get horrible formatting. tmd. stupid blogger html. also forgot to end with.. Cheers~

Blow wind blow

Blow what? How would I know blow what? Sometimes, everything adds up so perfectly you just want to scream it out, but then sometimes everything just keeps crashing and you'll walk by so dazed that you won't even know what the wind is gonna blow next. It's a start of Sem 2, and surprisingly, it's more fun this semester round. Tons of things to do. Which I'm worried there may never be enough time to accomplish. Another surprise is the sudden influx of people I've met that seem in their own special way to make my life a happier and fun one. I miss the old gang though. But one has to adapt no? And yes, I'm really typing much this time round. I don't know why, I had an urge to start writing stuff. I've the urge to rant too but what's the point of it anyway? No one is gonna care what you rant about, no one is gonna bother reading a rant; unlike some people in the singaporean blogsphere that seem to publish and insult everything that they dislike. WHAT'S THE FUCKING POINT? Ok, this is turning into a rant. Lol. so let's move on to funny stuff. Or not. I've got nothing funny to laugh at the last few days. (Online articles that is, real life has been an entertaining rush of exhaustion.) So, anyway, since I'm writing this and if you read up to here, you are gonna read on, (You are aren't you? I got hot juicy gossip and scandals) then I shall entertain (bore) you with what I've cooked. :D I have done creamy pastas, I have done my own pasta sauce (fun fun, but I can't get the right colour). And now I shall attempt to make Eugene and Belle (my housemates) puke to death by attempting to make lagsana tomorrow. Insert: I loved my cheese sausage. That was really really good stuff (well the melted cheese was anyway) I don't have the ingredients I thought I needed. So it's gonna be interesting to see how it turns out. (One big mess of a lump of melted cheese that is) So thank you for visiting my ego blog of my wonderful cooking. I hope to cook for you and make you delight (puke) in the wonderful world of my cooking. Cheers

Holiday pics

Yes I know it's pretty late, but I've been busy and stuff. Had visitors to show around. Ok... Here we go... So we went to cleaveland to take the ferry over to North Stradebrok Island, then while the two gers went sandboarding (which is pretty cool, it's like snowboarding without snow...) North Stradbroke Island Ferry Terminal! The skies over the area that day We sat at a nearby cliff and eat Huimin's Char Kway Teow (which were pretty decent, if cold...) The water splashing along the cliff Then we decided to take a walk along the beach... The view is bloody nice for a mountain tortoise like me ok... (You don't get this kinda nice view in sg...or fine sand for that matter.) Frenchmen's beach around sunset Me doing some artsy fartsy photos... After we finish, we went over to Huimin and Christina's place to bunk till 3:30am which we then took a 2 hour drive, by Huimin who prepared 2 cans of a Red-Bull type drink. The road in Aussie is quite scary at night cos the street lamps are not everywhere... So dark...and I was afraid that HM would fall asleep, heh. So was kinda paranoid. We reached Byron Bay Lighthouse at around 5:30am. The few photos I took weren't that good but here's a really really really good one.. It's a picture of the Iron Man (or so they called it) statue. Byron Bay is Australia's most eastern point by the way.. Here's a not so bad picture of the sun rising out behind that smallish hill (which was horrendeous to climb back all the way up to the Iron Man... After that we went to Movieworld. Cost me AUD$60 bucks to go in. Tmd. So expensive. It was sorta worth it lah. Go one time den dun go le. The lethal weapon ride was fun but the last part my head bang against the thing alot of times, made me quite dizzy. Stupid thing. Painful also. It wasn't too bad overall. Just abit kiddyish at times. Ah well, go once dun need to go again. Unlike Christina. Heh. Who went like dunno how many times she's considering getting a yearly pass. 2 pics... The second pic, I didn't take the ride 'cos I was kinda dizzy/tired and Ruth didn't want to take any rides... so.... Oh yeah, the first photo is dark because we took it when we were leaving, which was around 5pm and Aussie sun sets damn early. Also, my phone was running low on batt, so couldn't take more pictures. Should have charged it. Grrr.. p.s. I could photoshop it to make it look brighter but hey...au naturel..unlike some bloggers who deem themsevles so fugly that they need to photoshop every photo (and tons of make up) before they put any photos on their blog... This ends prob the longest post I have ever blogged. Tmd. Must blog more. Maybe can become famous and have gold taps in bathroom or something... (Since everyone and their grandmother are making gold taps and peanut jokes I guess i should just throw one in for the counter. Heh) And then when I'm famous, I can also make peanut jokes about golden taps in the shape of peanuts or something. Cheers~
